Festool hoses come in a wide range of options. The variables are the length of the hose, the hose diameter and whether it is antistatic or not.

Anti-static hoses are very popular because they prevent dust buildup on the hose exterior, which keeps your work and workplace cleaner, and also prevents clogging and errant shocks. In addition the smooth woven surface of the anti-static hoses will not catch on edges on other obstructions. Anti-static hose #204921 comes with all Festool dust extractors except for CT15 and the CT36 AC and CT48 AC (AutoClean) vacs.

The gray non-antistatic hoses are ridged flexible plastic. They do the job and are less expensive than the antistatic models.

Tapered hoses are smaller at the tool end and bigger at the vacuum end to maximize airflow while allowing use with smaller hand tools. You can also buy replacement or additional connectors, for the extractor end of the hoses and reducing sleeves for the tool end of the hoses. If you are doing fairly heavy-duty work, the larger hose will clear debris faster and better. This especially true for the Kapex and the big OF 2200 router. In addition the larger hoses work better for cleaning when you are using the hose as a general shop vacuum.

Note: Most of the vacuum accessory kits also include a larger diameter hose so if you are planning to get a kit you may not need to order the larger hose by itself.
